Compact, reliable fire protection designed for marine environments
Stat-X® is an innovative condensed aerosol fire suppression system developed to protect critical areas aboard commercial and working vessels.
Compact, self-contained and non-pressurised, Stat-X systems can provide highly effective fire protection for:
- Engine rooms
- Machinery spaces
- Electrical cabinets and switchgear
- Battery compartments
- Generator enclosures
- Pump rooms
- Other enclosed high-risk areas aboard a vessel
Unlike conventional gaseous suppression systems, Stat-X does not require large storage cylinders, external cylinder cabinets or extensive distribution pipework. Each compact generator is installed within the protected space, helping to reduce system weight, installation time and the amount of valuable onboard space required.
Marine Fire Safety is the marine distributor for Stat-X throughout the UK and Ireland, while also supporting vessel operators, shipbuilders and marine organisations across Europe and worldwide.
Designed for marine operators
Space and weight are important considerations aboard any vessel. Stat-X provides an effective alternative to traditional fixed fire suppression systems, particularly where cylinders and pipework would be difficult to accommodate.
Key benefits include:
- No pressurised cylinders
- No complex pipework or discharge nozzles
- Flexible installation
- Low maintenance requirements
- Long operational life
- Suitable for new-build and retrofit projects
Its straightforward design also removes many of the leakage and maintenance points associated with conventional systems.
Marine approvals and certification
Stat-X is approved for use aboard vessels operating under the MCA Workboat Code.
Following successful MSC.1/Circ.1270 testing, the Stat-X range has also achieved MED and MER Type Approval, allowing it to be considered for a wider range of commercial vessels, subject to the requirements of each installation.
Marine Fire Safety can assist with system design, product selection, installation and technical support.
How Stat-X extinguishes a fire
Stat-X uses an ultra-fine potassium-based aerosol to rapidly suppress fire through a combination of chemical and physical processes.
When activated, microscopic aerosol particles spread throughout the protected enclosure and interrupt the chemical reaction sustaining the fire.
The system does not rely on reducing oxygen levels. The aerosol also remains suspended after activation, helping to reduce the risk of reignition and providing extended post-discharge protection.
Built for demanding conditions at sea
Stat-X generators are manufactured from 316-grade stainless steel, providing resistance to demanding marine conditions.
The internal components are hermetically sealed to protect against moisture, salt-laden air and atmospheric contamination.
Stat-X has been evaluated for temperatures down to -40°C and relative humidity levels of up to 95%. Accelerated ageing tests indicate an operational life of up to 15 years, depending on the installation and environmental conditions.
With no pressurised cylinders, moving parts or external pipework, Stat-X provides a robust system requiring minimal routine maintenance.
Suitable for new vessels and retrofits
The compact design makes Stat-X suitable for both new-build vessels and upgrades to existing fire suppression systems.
Applications include:
- Workboats and pilot boats
- Tugs and harbour vessels
- Crew transfer vessels
- Fishing vessels
- Patrol and defence craft
- Offshore support vessels
Each system can be designed around the layout, fire risks and operational requirements of the vessel.
